Around 12.3 billion sanitary napkins, amounting to 113,000 tonnes of waste, reached India’s landfills every year.
Who is it for?
This campaign is best suited for a young activist (middle school, high school or college) who wants to spread awareness on menstrual hygiene products that are environmentally friendly and empower menstruating women to help preserve the environment while making healthy choices for their bodies.
Why Do GOOD. PERIOD?
Reports say that 1 in 10 girls below the age of 21 in India cannot afford sanitary products and use unhygienic substitutes. This can lead to severe health issues. Also, menstruators with access to sanitary napkins use 11,400 pads on average throughout their lifetime. There are two key concerns to be addressed: 1) lack of access to menstrual hygiene products and 2) access to eco-friendly and affordable alternatives to disposable napkins. Here’s your chance to revitalize menstrual practices that are healthy, dignified, affordable and also eco-positive.

Step 1
Your Target is to send 10 girls one reusable cloth pad each: INR 2,400
Here’s how:
- Start by creating a social media post (a reel, infographic post, or video) addressing myths and queries around menstrual hygiene.
- Raise funds to sponsor 10 girls from economically disadvantaged backgrounds reusable cloth pads. Reach out to 5 people and hit your goal of INR 2,400!
- With the collected amount, place the order of 10 Eco Femme washable cloth pads via Ecofemme
- Receive the pads and send them to a local NGO. If you are not sure who to send to, please contact us.
