Grassroots Change Amplifier – Sunidhi Sanjiv Patil
“The spirit of wanting to learn new things and then applying it in the real world is something I learned from the young women I taught at TribesforGOOD.”- Sunidhi Sanjiv Patil, Grassroots Change Amplifier
When the grassroots warrior Sunidhi Patil joined TribesforGOOD, social activism and citizen leadership were not new to her. Her work began in her hometown Solapur, where she worked with the girls at the Children’s Observation Home & Shelter Home. The young activist taught them English and Communication through interactive, fun activities. At TribesforGOOD, she imparted financial literacy skills to women survivors of exploitation.
Trafficking is all around us. Most survivors are lured and forced into trafficking, and circumstances put some people at more risk. Anybody can become a victim of trafficking and it takes immense support to overcome the trauma.
Sunidhi’s Reflections
It’s important to listen to and respect every person, every story. With every girl and woman I teach, I get to know a bit more about myself, discover a new passion, and a new insight into life. Their will to make a change in their life makes me hopeful about the future.
Changemaking as a habit
Sunidhi strives to make the most of every learning opportunity in her work. She intends to share the learnings from her financial literacy classes with her students at Solapur. She’d even introduced them to the basic concepts like savings before her stint with TribesforGOOD. She is now working on lesson plans to continue her engagement digitally when she moves abroad for higher studies.
Once a ChangeWarrior, always one.
