I believe naturally, we are drawn to doing what we can to provide help.
During recent years, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel from the ‘Land of Fire’, over the peaks of the Andes, down to the mosquitoes infested corners of the Amazon, sailed across the Caribbean Sea and whilst in the land of the Mayans I dreamed at the sight of an erupting volcano. Over in Asia, I came to witness the mystic land of Myanmar, the thousand islands of the Philippines, the gateway to the Himalayas, the “birthplace” of yoga, the island of the Gods and I was extremely fortunate to attend the teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama whilst in Dharamsala.
My name is Jeremy and I love travelling, discovering new places, new cultures, new ways of thinking and looking at the world for the constant expansion of the mind it provides. Venturing into foreign lands is, without a doubt, what taught me the most about myself and the world we live in.
Some news outlets may have a tendency to diabolise the world, they make it seem to be a dangerous place where individualistic ways rule. But traveling has taught me of the all inclusiveness of a smile, it taught me that barriers only exist in the construct of our mind, it taught me, perhaps reminded me, of the incredible kindness to be witnessed and shown along the way. It made me experience oneness and for that I am forever grateful. Learning to know each other is perhaps the first step towards lasting peace.
Along the way, we meet many in need, many forgotten people, whose government can’t provide for, who can’t provide for themselves and, I believe naturally, we are drawn to doing what we can to provide help.
TribesforGood is one of those platform that allows you to apply your skills for a greater good! It allows you to combine travelling, a true local experience, with volunteering and providing necessary skills! When the desire to help arises, we may become overwhelmed with the immensity of the task and the many options available. With TribesforGood, you know that your skills will be used for the benefit of social enterprises who have a great impact in their society, with this approach, you can really leverage your involvement.
Volunteering in a foreign land is also the opportunity to learn new approaches and I love to watch the ingenuity and the ‘do with whats available’ spirit. There is many ways to look at something and being exposed to different cultures allows me to expand my ways of looking at everything. The Japanese concept of ‘Kaizen’ talks of a concept of continual improvement, and perhaps this is what I strive for.
