The Fashion Industry is Responsible for 20% of Global Waste Water

Who is it for?

This campaign is best suited for a young activist (middle school, high school or college) who wants to protect the earth from the perils of fast fashion & excess consumerism.

Why Show Some Prelove?

It is estimated that of the 100 billion garments produced each year, 92 million tonnes end up in landfills. However, it is also established that increasing the lifespan of a garment by around 9 months longer will eliminate its environmental impacts by anywhere between 20% and 30% compared to buying new. Here’s your chance to promote sustainability by campaigning for preloved clothing.

Step 1

You can choose one campaign from below:

1. Swap for GOOD 

‘Preloved Only’ party

1. Identify which pieces of your pre -loved clothing are in usable condition so that your friends get the finest of your preloved. 
2. Organize a fun ‘Preloved Only’ party with your friends where you swap preloved wear. 
3. This is also your chance to evaluate your own consumption patterns. 
4. Oh and bonus points for sharing your styling tips and building on that bonhomie to reduce, reuse and recycle!

2. Donate & Revive

1. Got preloved clothes with further life in them? Collect these gems!
2. Donate it to someone who could use it or to organizations that collect preloved wear. 
3. You’re welcome to take it a notch higher by getting 5 of your friends to donate & revive too.

You’re not only supporting someone in need, but you’re also helping reduce the emission of greenhouse gases and reviving landfills from waste!

– A brief document with details on how many friends participated, the number of clothes swapped and how this exercise revealed to you your consumption habits.

• Donate & Revive

– Images of the clothes donated along with the doners/partner organization

– A brief document with details on how many clothes you donated, what your research uncovered about clothes in landfills and how this exercise revealed to you your consumption habits.
