The Story of Dia and Bhumi
Say hi to Dia and Bhumi, our young changemakers! Wondering what they’re learning in order to become a changemaker? Have a read.
Dia and Bhumi have worked on an assignment that was designed to directly help the NGO, Kshamata, that works towards empowering marginalised women such as sex workers. The objective of the assignment they worked on was to raise awareness about Kshamata through social media marketing.
Social media marketing is the next big marketing boom and almost every organisation has a dedicated marketing and communications team working on promoting their brand online, especially on social media. The reason behind this is its cost effective mechanism and wider reach. This assignment combines the best of two worlds, namely marketing and social service to equip our changemakers with an array industry specific employability skills.
How did our changemakers market on social media?
Not only did they create creatives such as social media posts, but they also drew up a consistent content strategy to adopt all throughout the marketing campaign.

How did they create change?
They helped spread awareness about Kshamata through social media. This is important because the more the people are aware, the more attention, donation and volunteers Kshamata gets.
What did they learn?
Just through this assignment, they have been equipped with multi-faceted skills such as social media marketing, creativity, content writing and team-working. Our changemakers also learnt how to use modern tools such as Canva to design posts and create creatives.
Moreover, our changemakers also learnt about Kshamata, an organisation, that was earlier unknown to them. Dia, one of our changemakers told us that she specifically liked how Kshamata has a keen emphasis on the mental health of marginalised women like sex workers. Such emphasis is rare to find and often ignored. But, Kshamata, not only tries to provide these women with a livelihood but also seeks to ensure that they are mentally healthy.
Overall experience:
The girls loved it! The feedback we received was that the experience was very relevant and enjoyable. They take pride in knowing that they have helped an organisation like Kshamata, thus creating change. Since women empowerment was the preferred area of focus for both Dia and Bhumi they enjoyed the experience even more. They were also keen to volunteer or work with Kshamata sometime in the future.
