Ummeed-ful Activists – Team Ummeed
”We want people to be well informed about the reality around gender inequality and mental health and to see how similar mindsets can in fact bring about a great beginning to a better tomorrow.” – – Team Ummeed, Ummeed-ful Activists
The Persian/Hindi word ‘Ummeed’ symbolizes hope. That hope turned the driving factor for ChangeWarriors Zurie, Zoya, Suhaani and Suhani who were nearing completion of their projects at TribesforGood. Their common interest in spreading awareness on mental health and building a gender-equal world coupled with the interest shown by fellow Gen Z inspired them to start their non-profit organization – to amplify conversations & action.
Gen Z is showing more promise in addressing issues pertaining to Mental Health and Gender Inequality. Teams such as Ummeed keep the wheel of hope going.
Ummeed’s Reflections
We as individuals felt the need to connect with other people and spread our ideas and knowledge on mental health (depression, anxiety, stress) and other prevalent problems like gender inequality among today’s Gen Z. We knew this could be successfully done via social media considering a major population of our target audience is active here.
An Experience to Live Through
Ummeed believes that every youth has a responsibility to make a difference so that we have an improved environment to live in. They are already sharing informational posts on their Instagram page (@ummeed___). They also plan to release newsletters to reach a wider audience. A website and events are also in the making. Ummeed acknowledges that societal change requires a massive investment of time and energy but they are confident this investment will bring them high returns.
